Dental Emergency Treatment in Port Coquitlam
When significant oral pain or unforeseen injury occurs, patients may require immediate treatment.
Dr. Herberts and Dr. Choi, prioritize emergency visits for both new and existing patients experiencing the following:
Knocked-Out Tooth
In the case of a knocked-out tooth, you should receive treatment within 30 minutes or so, increasing the chances of saving the tooth. Handle the tooth by its crown and not the root as it can be damaged easily. Make sure the tooth is free of shards or debris. Rinse the tooth clean and keep it moist by dropping it into a glass of milk, or inserting it back into its socket.
Lost Filling or Crown
If the restoration has dropped out of the smile, contact us right away. Keep the crown in a cool, safe place so that our dentists have the chance of reinserting it. We will check to see if your prosthetic still fits, if it does, we will reattach it. If decay is detected, Drs. Herberts and Choi will treat it, and a new restoration will be crafted.
Fractured or Damaged Tooth
Often, damage can wait until the following day if need be. We provide patients with composite bonding or crowns to address tooth chips or cracks as a reliable, long-lasting solution.
Severe Tooth Pain
This can be caused by inflammation or underlying oral health concerns. Patients visiting our office with decay and infection may require root canal therapy which will help relieve discomfort. We use our neighboring dental lab to create a crown that can help restore the structure of the tooth and protect it from re-infection.
Staying prepared for a dental emergency improves a patient’s chance for relief or protect their smile from damage. Keeping a first aid tooth preservation kit keeps you prepared for unforeseen circumstances.
